ChatGPT
In this panel, we discuss the underlying technology behind ChatGPT, and the potential opportunities to support positive AI development- no CS degree required!
Our expert panel of ChatGPT-nthusiasts includes Aditi Raghunathan, Qian Yang, Yonadav Shavit, Dr. Joshua Elliott and Anna Makanju, who share their insights, tips, and tricks for harnessing the power of this tool for good. The panal was moderated by Dhaval Adjodah and co-organized by Daniel Lee and Liz Weingartner.
- Aditi Raghunathan is an Assistant Professor in the Computer Science Department at Carnegie Mellon University. Her goal is to make machine learning more reliable and robust. Her work spans both theory and practice and leverages tools and concepts from statistics, convex optimization, and algorithms to improve the robustness of modern systems based on deep learning.
- Qian Yang is an assistant professor in information science at Cornell University. As a human-Al interaction researcher, she helps translate Al’s algorithmic advances into valuable real-world applications that serve human ends. Yang has designed several high-consequence Al applications: from decision support systems for life-and-death healthcare decisions to context-aware mobile services, from Natural Language Generation systems to autonomous cars.
- Yonadav Shavit is a researcher at OpenAl, was a PhD student in Computer Science at Harvard University and focused on Al policy and has previously worked on Al policy at Schmidt Futures.
- Dr. Joshua Elliott joined DARPA in September 2017. His research interests include modeling and prediction of complex natural and socio-economic systems and how computational technologies can be leveraged to improve all aspects of science and modeling from data discovery to analysis.
- Anna Makanju is currently the Head of Public Policy at OpenAI, an AI research and deployment company seeking to build powerful artificial intelligence tools that benefit humanity. Previously, she was the Special Policy Advisor for Europe and Eurasia to Vice President Biden, and prior to that she was the Senior Policy Advisor to the Permanent Representative at the United States Mission to the United Nations. She also was the Director for Russia at the National Security Council and the Chief of Staff for European and NATO Policy in the Office of the Secretary of Defense.
