International Strategy Forum PhD Research Fellowship
the ISF PhD Research Fellowship provides up to $7,500 in the form of a Research Travel Award supporting a policy-relevant dissertation or paper related to the intersection of technology and foreign policy.
What is ISF?
The International Strategy Forum (ISF), supported by Schmidt Futures, aims to forge an interdisciplinary network of rising leaders to strengthen progress and security amid technological innovation and a changing world order. We bet early on the next generation of problem solvers with extraordinary potential in geopolitics, innovation, and public leadership.

ISF PhD Research Fellowship
We are making up to $7,500 available for five Ph.D. candidates in the form of a Research Travel Award, to engage in research and writing of a policy-relevant dissertation or paper related to the intersection of technology and foreign policy. Preference will be given to candidates using interdisciplinary methodologies and addressing questions with real-world application for public benefit.

Eligibility
All applicants must
- Be a full-time graduate student at a university.
- The student must be enrolled in a full-time PhD program, have completed all required coursework, and passed all of the qualifying examinations by the time of the application deadline.
- The student must have successfully defended their dissertation prospectus by the time of the application deadline.
At the conclusion of their research, the selected candidate is required to complete a SIF ISF Report and write an op-ed describing the outcome of their research for recognition on the International Strategy Forum platform.
